OIE: Saudi approves H5N8 bird influenza outbreak

Paris : Saudi Arabia has approved an outbreak of highly contagious bird influenza in Riyadh which led to the culling of almost16,000 ducks, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said on Friday. The highly pathogenic H5N8 strain infective & killed 14 birds at a non-specified location in the Saudi capital, the Paris-based OIE said in a report on its website, citing data from the Saudi authorities. The other birds in a flock of around 60,000 exposed to the virus were culled, the report said. Bird influenza strains have shock poultry flocks in a number of countries across the world in recent years, by some types of the illness too causing human contagions & dyinges. Saudi Arabia had this year imposed restrictions on poultry imports from countries like Bulgaria in an effort to protect the illness spreading.

as informed in JEDDAH: The Ministry of Environment, Water & Agriculture on Friday announced that the country's food safety is secure after H5N8 avian influenza statuses had been announced in the Saudi capital."We are monitoring all poultry farms & incubation chambers all over the Kingdom. They have too been enable to of disinfect the ambit of the bird market, that is continue closed, according to the spokesman.The results of the Veterinary Diagnosis lab in Riyadh evidenced that the samples received from Al-Kharj & Dhoroma governorates were all negative.The spokesman added that N5N8 bird influenza statuses were detected in a fenced yard in Al-Muzahmiya governorate.
