Myanmar H1N1 swine flu death toll rises to 10 quoting : Reuters

YANGON (Reuters) - Four further people have died in an outbreak of H1N1 influenza in Myanmar, a health official said on Monday, taking the death toll in the latest outbreak to ten as the government stepped up public awareness campaigns about the swine flu virus. Authorities have told the public not to panic & described the latest outbreak as a regular seasonal occurrence. Aside from those killed by the virus, 51 people have been confirmed to have contracted the disease, according to the health ministry. Separately, Myanmar's livestock ministry has also reported an outbreak of H5N1 bird flu in the south. The latest H1N1 outbreak began further than a week ago, said Thinzar Aung, deputy director of the infectious illnesses department at the Ministry of Health & Sport, by Yangon, Myanmar's biggest city, the worst influenced area.

Cough, fever, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, vomiting or diarrhoea are common symptoms of swine flu. Patients by flu symptoms are receiving curing at Pokhara Western Regional Hospital, Manipal Teaching Hospital & Gandaki Teaching Hospital, said Baral.

The hospital's reports & information provided by the family members proved that both of them had died of swine flu. A week ago, swine flu claimed three lives in Kathmadu. Later she was taken to another infirmary where it was proved that she had swine flu. Later, a team of 18 doctors concluded that she was infective by the H1N1 after 72 hours.
